Last week, the Nawaj’a family of Susya was assaulted by masked settlers. The mother, Tamam Hamees Nawaj’a was badly beaten, her face and hands were swollen and she was taken to the Soroka hospital in Beer Sheba. Later, Ehud brought her son and daughter to visit. Her husband and his nephew were taken for treatment at Yatta.
The Nawaj’a family lives in a remote location, away from the rest of Susya Palestinians and near the ranch of Dalia Har-Sinai – widow of settler Ya’ir Har-Sinai who was murdered in 2001. A gang of thugs from this ranch continually harrasses the Nawaj’a family.
This story was broadcast by Israeli TV channel 10. It also appeared on the International Herald Tribune, where it is reported in the rather lazy and cowardly attitude characteristic of the American press approach to the Occupation.
